Does a soothing vacation to a story book world interest you? Take a holiday to another world in Rainbow Bay, Eleuthera Bahamas.
Rainbow Bay is not just a name. We have viewed some awe inspiring rainbows as well as gorgeous sunrises
and sunsets from Rainbow Bay beach.
Don't like crowds? Are you looking for an affordable island vacation? Visit Rainbow Bay.
Eleuthera is beaches. Mile after mile of beautiful, unspoiled beaches, and Rainbow Beach
is one of the finest. The homes in Rainbow Bay are sparsely scattered affording privacy with home rentals on both
the Caribbean and Atlantic oceansides.
The Rainbow Bay area is a well-liked tourist destination. The vacation home rentals in Rainbow
Bay have a local Bahamian Caretaker to assist you. Rainbow Bay is approximately 8 ½ miles north of the
Governor’s Harbour Airport (GHB), and located between the villages of Hatchet Bay (four miles
to the north) and James Cistern (4 miles south).
To explore the island and it's beaches and sample the local restaurants, an automobile rental
is highly recommended. Big Rock is the grocery store in
Rainbow Bay. There are larger grocery stores located up and down the island. The Rainbow Inn
is the nearest restaurant with great Bahamian cuisine. It's hard to lose your way in Eleuthera.
Even though the island is approximately 110 miles long by 2 miles wide,
there is only one main road called the Queen's Highway that stretches the entire length
of the island.
The Rainbow Bay area has beaches on both sides of the island. Rainbow beach is the most popular
and can be found on Wandering shore drive. Rainbow Beach is shallow and usually calm making it great
for families and a wonderful place to snorkel.
The population of Eleuthera is around 12,000. Governor's Harbour is located about 16 miles to the south of Rainbow Bay where there is a large grocery store, restaurants, gas stations, and a library. Lots of smaller settlements are located on the island such as Hatchet Bay which has an internet cafe and James Cistern which has restaurants and a gas station.
Eleuthera is an out island. Which means this not a place for those looking for shopping
malls, fast food restaurant, or casinos. There are no McDonalds or KFC here. Eleuthera
is a quiet tropical getaway. Bring your shorts and T-shirts. No cocktail dresses or
tuxedos are necessary.
Many Rainbow Bay visitors take side trips to explore the islands of Spanish Wells and Harbour Island.
Both areas are about a 30 minutes north of Rainbow Bay. Park your automobile and enjoy a five minute ferry ride. Rent a golf cart to explore. Spanish Wells is a beautiful fishing village with pastel colored homes. Visit the world famous Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island and maybe catch a glimpse of a celebrity. Is that Mick Jagger under those shades?
It's time to relax. Come to Eleuthera.
